The models I'm comparing are the Panasonic TX32LMD70 and Samsung LE26R87BDX. They're both one step down from being the highest spec models out now. The only better Panasonic is the LXD70(0), and the only better Samsung is the M87 series -- but that's 1080p so it's in a different league all together.
The more recent, mid/high end models, Panasonic wins. There was a roundup I saw a month or two ago, that compared the Samsung R87, Panasonic LXD70, Sony D3000 and Toshiba C3030DB, and the Panasonic won overall.
