People tell me that I have to work on my depth. And ive asked on another forum but all i got was someone told me to blur the BG and sharpen the render. But that seems to not be good enough, so does anyone have a tip or tutorial to make a better depth? ![]() ^^ Thank you Kabooz ![]() |

Tons of stuff help. The basic stuff: Blur the BG + sharpen focal, but don't use the blur/sharpen filters for that, use the tools for them to make it look better, it's easier to adjust. Also, don't blur the whole BG, leave little parts open to create a bit more perspective. Also, don't blur the BG in one level of blurryness, blur parts that are further to the back more than parts that are close to your focal, that's where the blur tool comes into hand .Burn + dodge tools: Creates a flow between darker and lighter colors, meaning that parts that need to be shadowed more (say a part that is under someone's arm or whatever) can be "burned" and a part that is way to dark can be "dodged". This also helps out with lighting. Gradient maps: The easiest thing to do is to pick a B&W gradient map, put it to multiply and lower opacity to around 30% (basic setting..it works usually), the down side to that is that it darkens the sig also, and sometimes, that is not what you want, so experiment with colors, sometimes grey instead of black. Or like I do most of the time lately, pastel gradient maps to softlight/overlay/lighten. B&W Gradient map on luminosity also works out with depth, usually you don't need to tone down the opacity, but that depends, whatever floats your boat there. The use of custom shapes over and under/behind things: Pentool a line and make it look like I did here: ![]() Or make a selection with the pentool/load selection on an odd shaped thing like so: ![]() Next to that, there is just the stuff like blurring your clipping masks or burning/dodging them to create different effects. Add slight drop shadows on them. And a bunch of other stuff that, at the moment, my mind can't come up with. I hope that helps ya.. |
