My beta review.

Weapons

Needler - Love it. It now actually has a use. I think that maybe it should be toned down a bit but be dual wieldable. I also looks sexy, additionally I like that there is only 1 or 2 on each map, this counteracts the powerfullness of it. I can see it being a power weapon in the future.

Sniper rifle - SEXY. The mini scope looks amazing, the recoil and slower rate of fire is perfect. Hopefully this will widen the skill lever between an average sniper and an above average sniper. Also this will stop the noobs who sweep snipe in order to get their kills. :p

Rockets - As far as I could tell there is on lock on, doesnt really bother me. I like the change, it fires a little slower. Only bad thing is that splash damage needs changing, its way too small.

Spartan laser - Its nice, a little too powerful for me. It was called an anti-viechale weapon and it clearly isn't. This should really be sorted out.

Battle rifle - Same as H2, anyone who says it isnt can't aim.

Carbine - Much Much better, now it isnt inferier to the Br, Its now on level and can be used effectivly. Additonal ammo is perfect. In H2 I always run out of ammo too quickly.

SMG - Never used in an actual fight. They look sick and sound amazing when fired.

Brute spiker - Look sexy and I love the different colour shots. They are also very effective at close range. I enjoy them.

Beam rifle - Same as H2?

Plasma rifle - Only on one map, I however found them sexy. Very effective IMO and I also think they look nice and shiny which = good surley?

Shotgun - Finaly actually works. I tinhk that the increased power makes it back into a power weapon like in H1. I like it. Don't like the way it looks, seems a bit bulky and compact.

Assult rifle - I like, works well. Only thing to say is that I tihnk the ammo clip should be increased slightly.

Controls

Everthing is FINE! It takes some getting used to however, they are good. Only thing I could complain about is the D-pad, its a bitch to reach and impossible to use when in a fight. Maybe add an option to always have chat on?

Vehicles

ATV/Mongoose - Like em, only and I stress only as transport. Sometimes they flip wayyyy to easy and someone on a mongoose could be demolished by someone with a shotgun.

Hog - IMO toooo slow. It really annoys my, I can walk quicker than that. On the other hand the turret is now offically sick. I likey.

Maps

High ground - Best map on beta. Love the layout and design, especially of the defensive base. Love the weapon placements, espc. the spartan laser.
Only bad thing would be spawn points. In slayer the dead team will almost always spawns near the defensive mongoose. That needs to be sorted.

Valhalla - I tihnk this map is too big for 4v4. I won't write much on this until I have played on 8v8. One thing I will mention is the man cannon. I tihnk they should have a bit more UMPH. If I got through a giant cannon I expect to get some distance. Also, I tihnk that the speed or velocity you enter the cannon in should have an effect on the distance travelled.

Snowbound - Too bright, In the centre of the map I can never see bubble shields, my rectile or nades. Sort that out. I like the weapon placements and the sneaky tunnels under ground. The shield doors are very good. I like this map.

Random things

The powerdrain should NOT go through walls and floors. Its a bitch to run off only to be hit by the same power drain in the room below.

Bubble shield and grav lift are very good. Not seen much of the trip mine.

Crazy king. Has to have a longer win time, these games always end very fast. Also the walls are wayyyyy too big. I have trouble seeing in them.

I love the way the brightness changes from dark to light and I love the effect of the curved helmet. Also the effect when spawning, love the way everthing is bright at first and I like the effect of the helmet starting up.

I really really want the ginaed the lead, lost the lead back. It is much easier to keep track of the score that way. Also the guys voice has gone gay. Backt o normal please?

I think the same about most of the weapons apart from the BR and the Snipers.

Battle Rifle - Same as H2 but the auto lock is weaker but if you have a good aim its the same, same with the Sniper

No it's not! It's not as powerful, and i have a good aim.

Also talking on the D-pad is gay. You can't talk in a fight (unless you wanna die) and the beatdowns don't do it for me either. You hardly miss at close range (which is good) but you don't lunge as far as in H2. That gets me killed so many times, because i'm used to the H3 lung.

The Battle Rifle is not the same as Halo 2. Beta's BR is not nearly as accurate as Halo 2's BR. The Beta BR is somewhat close to H2's pre-patch BR. Also, the Beta BR only has 32 in its clip while H2's BR has 36.

The BR isn't even worth using in close range like how it was in H2, I really hate that. You pretty much have to switch to a assault rifle or something else when you've got a BR at close range.

BTW Mclaugh, we got to get a game or 2 of Beta in. I got your invite last night, but i was playing with a couple friends.

Sounds good to me, but what you said about the BR doesn't make since to me. I played the Beta for the first time last night and I got a good 10+ games in and I found it very effective in close quarters combat as far as shooting goes. Maybe you are talking about the BXR, BXB and melee fighting or something. The Beta BR fires good for me in close quarters.

I found it working really well at about far to medium distances, but for me when I got in close I died quick. It was moslty against duel spikers when I found it useless though. Duel spikers is one hell of a duel weild though.

Yeah the dual spikers rape ALL, if someone goes against me with those, ill destroy them. End of story. Cause dual spikers blind/ decimate your shield. then just drop a shield drainer for the fuck of it.

i basically agree with on everything execpt for one thing, the spartan laser. It basically its a vechical killer becuse ever time u hit a vechical with it it explodes. But everything else i agree.
