Has anyone recently noticed the sudden exponential growth in stats included in Major League sports? I mean, you can't go 30 seconds without hearing a commentator saying how long it's been since this happened or how many more of these he needs to have this...

It's getting ridiculous.

it's not going to stop anytime soon. in the last ten years we've become so obsessed with health that the industry has grown so much and we've learned so much about the human body and how we can better it that kids in high school are gonna start being 250 lb linebackers and 350lb linemen--something you rarely saw even in the nfl.

long story short: people are in much better shape than they were when those records were made.

Yeah, but even outside of health improvement, they put as many stats as they can wherever they can and it seems like they use them as filler. Instead of writing a heartfelt piece about the team that won, they just use the cheap tactic of throwing an astounding statistic anywhere.
