Tournament staff is a completely seperate beast and I can neither confirm or deny those reports at this time. =)

Short answer: no.

Tourney Staff are in charge of planning and running tournaments. Moderators are in charge of keeping the site running smoothly. Admin smoke from a pipe and tea in the library. Well, I do anyway.
