Well... it's been forever since I wrote one of these up so I figured I would give it a try. I have been somewhat distracted from the site this year and have more or less left things up to THF and the mods. I want to thank them for helping.

State of the site:

As most of you know the site has suffered in activity over the course of the last year of the site. We had our 1 year anniversary back in May. Recently however P and I had been doing all that we could behind the scenes to try to get more traffic to the site. We don't have an advertising budget (not that we ever have) but we are working on it. We had hovered at the top of the 2nd page of the google listing for keywords like "Halo 3 Forum" for a really long time and with the help of Paul to secure us some linkbacks and additional SEO we are now on the front page right along with the old site hah (go figure). Last month our monthly posts had increased, while not dramatically this is still a good healthy sign that the site has growth potential. I believe there is still a large Halo 3 market and fan base out there that we just haven't been able to tap into and we are doing what we can with the limited funds we have.

That being said I thank everyone that has stuck around since the beginning and been loyal (for the most part) to the site.

With that said hopefully we can get something going to help spice up the site a bit.

While I understand the userbase isn't what it once was we have decided to bring back the donation feature for those of you that have an interest in helping the site continue to run and possibly fund some site activities. If there is an intrest I could also bring back the HoC Donators group.

I don't have a lot more to report, just wanted to say thanks and don't give up yet. =) As always any suggestions and comments are welcome.

Nice write up Mike. It is good to see an increase in the total months postings (a minimal increase, but an increase nonetheless). I had just noticed the donation button and I figured the donators group would make an appearance (fortunately the colour of the usergroup can remain the same given the current user colour scheme). Of course this is dependent on the number of donators but one hopes there will be a sufficient number for the site.

On topic, I think the Donate Group is a good idea! I am pretty sure if you give it some special perks people would be more inclined to donate! I think I am going to try and give some money before I leave for college. Nice write up and I guess now is the time to say what I need to say.

After the 22nd of Aug my activity will suffer severely. Not that I want it to, but if anyone knows the stories about VMI you will understand why.

I didn't have a problem with the sig, but the fact that it was art does not necessarily make it okay. It was a pretty taboo subject. Like photographs with nude models in them may be art, but considering the audience here it's not entirely appropriate.

Also, good write-up Mike. I have spent way too much money lately so I'm broke right now, but maybe in the future.

We have gunz here but the visual representation of what this world is doing to little children is not appropriate? What am I missing?
