I'm using Avid (FUCK YEAH) but on some horrendous piece of shit laptop. But 99% of the editing population uses WMM or Vegas, so you must be pretty decent already

That's because 99% of the people don't know anything about video production or editing.

Avid is an unbelievable video production software (the industry standard), and I have used Avid in the past on certain projects. However, I find myself continue using FCP more over Avid. Not sure why, but I guess it just fits my "production workflow and style" better...

Yeah I've worked on many big projects in the past, including most recently a silent film that takes place in an old abandoned textile mill. That was a sick short subject and I actually got permission to film in what was practically a museum piece...

When I finish that short, I'll let you guys know!

Yeah and the other thing...

WMM, Vegas, iMovie, etc. are so bad they eat balls for breakfast. These programs are so unbelievably limiting in capability that I feel like ripping my eyes out whenever I use them and can't perform a certain task just the way I want.

You probably know what I'm talking about Creeps.

Believe me I know. I work as a trainee Technical Engineer/Editor in a post production company in Soho. It's good to have got in the industry and being working around real editors at the ripe age of 17, give's me such a headstart.

Yeah this sucks. I'm 15 and at my age it's near impossible to find a job pertaining to video production that's any good. I COULD work at the local town TV station, but everyone there thinks they're Steven Spielberg walking around with the fancy equipment, when they really have no clue about anything! These retards who think they're pros walk in, grab a camera, and film their idiot teenagers sledding down their front porches set to rock music with their gayest credits rolling for like 10 minutes at the end. It sucks!

I'm not bitching, its just that this attitude people have just frustrates me greatly.

So I figure since nobody believes a 15 year old can do anything productive, I'll just go ahead get my own crew and make my own films. Screw the companies, I'll get ahead of the game!

This montage I'm doing for Gunc0w is good action-editing practice for me. I tend to like to stick with the classic editing styles, but with a montage, you really need to jazz it up. So I figure what better way to practice quick-cut action editing than with Gunc0w's montage. The way I see it, Gunc0w gets a killer clip, and I get some sweet cutting time!

montages are great for certain techniques, like synching and things like that, but awful for other like continuity editing. They are of course also great for just getting a feel for programs.

For example, when I was asked to help lend a hand in editing a music video, I was feeling quite comfortable, as it was all about special effects and synching. When I was asked to help edit a TV advert I didnt feel as fluent with it, and didn't have a good eye for what's good and what's bad.

I think the best thing do make sure you do is just have fun, because if you go into editing in real life, it can get tedious if you don't keep your enthusiasm.

Plus you get free porn.
