In this tutorial I will show you how to compress your big .AVI files into small .WMV files, with the click of a button and still keep that almost .AVI quality that you had.

First off you will need WinAvi. In this tutorial I am using WinAvi 7.7. If you want to try it out, all you need to do is go to www.winavi.com and download the compressor and download the trail version. If you want the full version, you can contact me on AIM at BROHANx187, as I cannot disclose that information here, but on AIM, I can help you .

Once you have that installed, open it up. It may ask you to download a Quicktime Alternative, and all you got to do is google it, and you will find it very easily.

Now on to the first step. There are two ways in compressing your .AVI clips. You can either do them individually or you can BATCH them and it will do them all at once. First I will show you the individual conversion.

This is what the interface should look like:


Now for the single file converting, you need to click on # 1. After doing this, it will ask you for a file that you want to convert. Find your .AVI file you need to convert and then click OK.

Now after this, you will be brought to this screen:


Now you need to set your output file to where you want the .WMV file to save by clicking browse. Once you are done with that, click OK and your file will convert, and once it is done converting, your file will be nice and pretty.

Now on to the Batch File Converting function. This function is #2 on the interface. Click that and you will be brought to a new window that should look like this:


This neat function will convert all of your .AVI clips in a push of the button so that you don't have to individually run through the other process.

So what you need to do, is click in the top right of that window where it says add file, and then a scroll bar will pop down, like in the picture, and click "Any to WMV." Once this is done, search your computer for your .AVI file and then click ok. Do this as MANY times as you want until you are ready to convert. Once you are ready to convert, click Convert, and then all of your files will convert in the order you selected them.

Once it is done, what I do, is I go to the big .AVI files and delete them, because they are no longer needed, and it frees up a TON of space.
